The currency ended at 4.5310/5350 per euro compared to 4.5406/5456 on Wednesday.
The leu opened at 4.5385/5400 per euro and changed hands between 4.5300 and 4.5455 during the trading session, a local dealer told SeeNews.
"The exchange rate hovered around 4.54 lei per euro most of the time and most deals took place at this level," the dealer said.
Romania's central bank, BNR, set its reference exchange rate at 4.5394 lei per euro on Thursday, compared to 4.5454 lei per euro on Wednesday. For the U.S. dollar, BNR set the reference exchange rate at 3.4722 lei versus 3.4734 lei on Wednesday.
Turnover on the Romanian interbank leu deposit market went down to 2.1 billion lei on Wednesday from 2.5 billion lei on Tuesday. The central bank will issue Thursday’s turnover figure on Friday.
Interest rates on overnight leu deposits decreased to 5.08%/5.58% from 5.17%/5.67% on Wednesday.
