The leu ended at 4.5150/4.5170 per euro compared to 4.4940/4970 on Tuesday.
The Romanian currency opened at 4.4860/4.4880 per euro, a local dealer told SeeNews.
"The leu is inclined to depreciate further," he added.
"The local currency remained under selling pressures, as the pair tested once again the 4.5000 level," local bank Credit Europe said in its daily bulletin.
Romania's central bank, BNR, set its reference exchange rate at 4.5073 lei per euro, compared to 4.4881 lei on Wednesday. For the U.S. dollar, BNR set the reference exchange rate at 3.4882 versus 3.4728 lei on Wednesday.
Turnover on the Romanian interbank leu deposit market fell to 1.4 billion lei on Wednesday from 1.6 billion lei on Tuesday. The central bank will issue Thursday's turnover figure on Friday.
Interest rates on overnight leu deposits fell to 4.57%/4.57% on Thursday from 4.71%/5.21% on Wednesday.
