October 22 (SeeNews) - The Romanian leu closed almost unchanged against the euro on Thursday in a trading session without major volatility, dealers said.

The leu ended at 4.2880/2930 per euro, compared to 4.2860/2900 per euro on Wednesday.

The Romanian currency opened near 4.2920 per euro and was traded in a tight range on a lack of market-moving news, one dealer told SeeNews.

The BNR set its reference exchange rate at 4.2923 per euro on Thursday, compared to 4.2930 per euro on Wednesday. For the U.S. dollar, the BNR set its reference exchange rate at 2.8672 versus Wednesday’s 2.8749.

Turnover on the interbank leu deposit market fell to 3.719 billion lei on Wednesday from 3.821 billion lei on Tuesday. The BNR will issue Thursday’s turnover figures on Friday.

Interest rates on overnight leu deposits edged down to 7.75%/8.25% on Thursday from 7.76%/8.26% on Wednesday.
