It opened at 4.5754/5804 per euro and changed hands between 4.5710/5760 and 4.5810/5860 during the trading session, a local dealer told SeeNews.
Romania's central bank, BNR, set its reference exchange rate at 4.5772 lei per euro on Tuesday, compared to 4.5757 on Monday. For the U.S. dollar, BNR set the reference exchange rate at 3.5128 lei versus 3.5051 lei on Monday.
Turnover on the Romanian interbank leu deposit market increased to 3.6 billion lei on Monday from 1.07 billion on Friday. The central bank will issue Tuesday’s turnover figure on Wednesday.
Interest rates on overnight leu deposits plummeted to 1.16%/1.66% from 3.23%/3.73% on Monday.
