The currency closed at 4.5100/5140 per euro compared to 4.5130/4.5150 on Wednesday.
The leu traded in a very tight trading range opening at 4.5100 and touching an intraday high of 4.5070 per euro in early trading but eased later to an intraday low of 4.5200, a local dealer told SeeNews.
Romania's central bank, BNR, set its reference exchange rate at 4.5125 lei per euro on Friday, compared to 4.5092 lei on Thursday. For the U.S. dollar, BNR set the reference exchange rate at 3.4642 lei versus 3.4843 lei on Thursday.
Turnover on the Romanian interbank leu deposit market dropped to 603.8 million lei on Thursday from 1.0 billion lei on Wednesday. The central bank will issue Friday's turnover figure on Monday.
Interest rates on overnight leu deposits fell to 1.13%/1.63% on Friday from 1.18%/1.68% on Thursday.
