"The U.S. Q3 GDP [gross domestic product] figures displayed a 0.3% [annual] decline, thus confirming fears of an economic recession," analysts with Bucharest-based Credit Europe Bank told SeeNews in a statement.
BNR set its reference exchange rate used for statistical purposes at 3.6610 lei per euro on Friday, compared to 3.6262 lei on Thursday. For the U.S. dollar, the reference exchange rate was set at 2.8758 lei versus Thursday's 2.7607 lei.
Interest rates on overnight leu deposits were set at an average of 14.07%/17.80% compared to 14.05%/17.80% on Thursday.
Turnover on the interbank leu deposit market rose to some 1.066 billion lei on Thursday from 784.9 million lei on Wednesday. The BNR will issue Friday's figures on Monday.
