September 11 (SeeNews) - Romanian state-owned flag carrier TAROM has reported a 13.1% annual drop in the number of passengers it carried in the first seven months of the year to 862,900, the Association of European Airlines (AEA) said.
TAROM’s average occupancy rate was 52.2% through July, down 10.2 percentage points from a year ago, AEA said in a report on Thursday.
In July alone, TAROM transported 159,200 passengers, 8.0% less than a year ago. The occupancy rate for the month was 63.9%, 5.2 percentage points lower than in July 2008.
AEA is the organisation of 34 European carriers which transport collectively 370 million passengers and 7 million tonnes of cargo each year. They operate 2,600 aircraft serving 615 destinations in 165 countries with a combined 11,575 flights a day.
