Romanian Elba Suspends 400 Workers' Contracts for Two Weeks – Media

"This week as well as next week we will not work due to a sharp fall in orders from Dacia," DailyBusiness quoted the head of the company’s car lightening devices department Nicolae Motateanu as saying.

The company will pay 75% of the employees' core salary during the suspension period.

Dacia, a unit of France's Renault, halted vehicle production from November 20 to December 7 after stopping production for two days in October and two days in November.

Elba, based in western city of Timisoara, employs 482. Spare parts and lighting devices manufactured for Dacia account for 15% of the company's output.

Besides automotive lighting devices, Elba produces industrial, household and ornamental devices.
