The driving force behind the growth were retail sales, which accounted for 86.5% of the total, the survey showed.
Hoffmann La Roche led the market with a 7.0% share, followed by French Sanofi-Aventis with 6.9%. British GSK and Swiss Novartis ranked third, each with a share of 6.8% of the Romanian market in the period under review. Local drug maker Terapia Ranbaxy had a 4.6% market share, Zentiva S.A. held 3.9% of the market, while Antibiotice controlled 2.8%.
Romania's pharmaceuticals market is seen growing by 7.9% this year, Cegedim said.
