November 6 (SeeNews) - Romania's competition regulator said on Thursday it has approved the sale of local insurers Ardaf and RAI to Generali PPF Holding, an insurance joint venture of Czech PPF Group and Italy's Generali.

There are no serious concerns that the deal may harm competition on the relevant markets, the regulator said in a statement.

In June Generali PPF Holding signed an agreement with Czech investment fund PPF Investments to buy from it 72.7% of Ardaf and 99.9% of RAI for an undisclosed price.

Ardaf operates in the life and non-life insurance segments, while RAI operates on the Romanian travel and medical insurance segments.

Generali PPF Holding is doing business in Romania through Generali Asigurari, which operates in the life and non-life segments, FATA Asigurari Agricole, and through the Generali Fond de Pensii pension fund.
