November 4 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Romania decreased by 18.7% on the year to 543,100 in September, the statistics board, INS, said on Wednesday.
In August, the number of tourists staying in Romania decreased by 10.1% on the year to 862,500.
Overnight stays dropped by an annual 18% to some 1.650 million in September, INS said in a statement.
The number of tourists staying in Romania dropped by 13.6% on the year to 4.861 million in the first nine months of 2009. Overnights fell by 16.2% to 13.957 million in the period under review.
In 2008 the number of tourists staying in Romania rose by 2.2% to over 7.125 million, while overnights increased by 0.6% to some 20.726 million.
