The average yield rose to 6.02% from 5.53% achieved in the previous auction of eleven-month government debt paper held on July 9, the central bank, which auctions government securities on behalf of the finance ministry, said in a statement.
Bids were placed for 1.556 billion lei worth of T-bills in Monday's auction. The average accepted price was equal to 94.6755% of par.
The finance ministry has sold some 45.24 billion lei worth of government securities on the domestic market so far this year. Romania also sold $2.25 billion (1.74 billion euro) in ten-year dollar-denominated bonds on the U.S. market in January and February and 750 million euro in euro-denominated bonds in September.
