June 10 (SeeNews) - Romania's finance ministry sold on Monday two issues of government securities worth a total of 1.097 billion lei ($236.9 million/220.4 million euro), central bank data showed.
The finance ministry placed 797 million lei worth of T-notes maturing on October 28, 2026, above target, the central bank said in a data release.
The average accepted yield came in at 6.29%, compared to 6.22% achieved at the previous auction of Treasury paper of the same issue held last month. Demand for the T-notes which have an annual coupon of 7.2%, soared to 1.042 billion lei from 630 million lei at the previous auction.
The finance ministry also sold on Monday 300 million lei worth of T-notes maturing on April 29, 2030, above target.
The average accepted yield rose to 6.69% from 6.58% achieved at the previous auction of T-notes of the same issue held last month. Demand for the Treasury paper that has an annual coupon of 8% fell to 544.8 million lei from 734.3 million lei at the previous auction.
Both issues will be reopened on Wednesday when the finance ministry hopes to raise an additional total of 105 million lei through non-competitive tenders.
