Romania had the highest increase in construction output among EU member states in the previous month as well - of 34.2%.

Bulgaria reported the third-highest annual increase after Hungary, as its construction output grew by 6.9%, Eurostat said in a statement earlier this week.

On a monthly comparison basis, Romania posted the second-highest decrease in construction output, after Sweden - by 3.4%, while Bulgaria's construction output was 1.2% higher.

Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Slovenia's recorded the second-highest annual decrease in construction production, after Spain - by 8.1%. The country's construction output fell by 0.7% month-on-month.

Data for Greece and Croatia was not available.

On average, construction output in the EU edged up by 0.3% both on an annual and on a monthly comparison basis due to a rise in civil engineering production.
