Romania recorded the highest increase in construction production for a second consecutive month in July, after posting a 23.3% rise in the previous month.

Bulgaria posted the third highest annual increase in construction production among EU member states in July, after Hungary, as its construction output grew by 4.3%, Eurostat said in a statement on Wednesday.

On a monthly comparison basis, Romania posted the second highest increase in construction output - by 4.1%, while Bulgaria's construction output was 1.6% higher.

Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Slovenia's construction production edged up by 0.1% both on an annual and on a monthly comparison basis.

Data for Greece and Croatia was not available.

On average, construction output in the EU rose by an annual 1.7%, mostly due to a rise in civil engineering production, and was 0.6% lower month-on-month.
