October 21 (SeeNews) - Romania will pursue plans to connect its Black Sea port city of Constanta to the high-speed railroad linking Vienna and Budapest, Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu said on Tuesday.

The Romanian premier and his Hungarian counterpart Ferenc Gyurcsany have reached an agreement to promote the project through the European Union's Southeast Europe (SEE) Operational Programme, the Romanian government's press office said in a statement, following a joint cabinet meeting of the two neighbouring EU member states.

Austria will also back the project, the statement said.

The SEE programme requires the involved countries to set up a partnership in order to become eligible for funding.
