September 15 (SeeNews) - Romania is extending the state of alert introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic by 30 days as from September 15 due to a rise in the number of new infections, the government announced.
The extension means that people will be obliged to wear masks in closed public spaces and while travelling by public transport for a further 30 days, the government said in a statement on Monday evening.
Starting September 15, Romania allowed the reopening of schools under strict rules in the counties where the total number of new Covid-19 cases per 1,000 inhabitants registered in the last 14 days is lower than 3. In order to prevent the spread of the disease, pupils and teachers will be obliged to wear masks during classes.
Romanian authorities on Monday reported 692 new cases of Covid-19 registered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total count to 104,187. The death toll climbed to 4,185, the latest data from the health ministry showed.
