The ministry gave no reason for the cancellation in a statement issued early on Thursday.

This year's last auction of government securities will be held on December 22, as previously announced, when the finance ministry will offer 500 million lei worth of six-month T-bills.

Romania has sold some 40.1 billion lei and 928.7 million euro in government debt paper on the domestic market so far this year. It has also raised $2.0 billion in 10-year and 30-year bonds on the U.S. market and 2.75 billion euro in ten-year bonds on international markets.
