October 2 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Romania decreased by 10.1% on the year to 862,500 in August, the statistics board, INS, said on Friday.
In July, the number of tourists staying in Romania decreased by 10.9% on the year to 809,000.
Overnight stays dropped by an annual 13.1% to some 2.998 million in August, INS said in a statement.
The number of tourists staying in Romania dropped by 12.9% on the year to 4.32 million in the first eight months of 2009. Overnights fell by 16.0% to 12.307 million in the period under review.
In 2008 the number of tourists staying in Romania rose by 2.2% to over 7.125 million, while overnights increased by 0.6% to some 20.726 million.
