In August alone, registrations dropped 42.3% on the year to 5,044 in Romania, ACEA, said in a statement.
New passenger car registrations in the European Union (EU) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) under the brand of Romanian carmaker Dacia decreased by 1.3% on the year to 163,617 vehicles through August. The market share of Dacia slightly rose to 1.9% from 1.8% a year ago.
In August alone, car registrations under the Dacia brand, owned by France's Renault, increased 15.9 % on the year to 18,561.
New passenger car registrations in the EU (excluding Malta) went down by 7.1% on the year to 8.3 million units through August. Registrations in the EU and the European Free Trade Association declined by 6.6% on the year to 8.6 million passenger cars over the period under review.
