The wind farms will be developed by Rezolv in partnership with London-based peer Low Carbon and are expected to become one of Europe’s largest onshore wind farms once operational, Rezolv Energy said in a press release.
The sites will generate enough clean energy to power over 332,000 homes and avoid approximately 220,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
The construction of a new 400 kV interconnection substation will also be required to feed the power produced into the transmission network, Rezolv Energy said.
"Signing the grid connection agreement is an important milestone for any renewable energy development. This is a major project, both for Rezolv and Romania as a whole," Marian Pavel, general manager Romania at Rezolv Energy, was quoted as saying.
Established in 2022, Rezolv has already secured over 2GW of clean energy projects in South Eastern Europe, including the 1,044MW Dama Solar plant in western Romania, the 450MW VIFOR wind farm in Romania’s Buzau county, and the 229MW St. George solar project in northeastern Bulgaria.
