ZAGREB (Croatia), October 17 (SeeNews) - UK-based commercial and residential property developer Poseidon Group said on Thursday it will build a 30,000 square metres logistics facility for a major Croatian food retailer at its Business Park Dalmatia (BPD) near Split.

"We are delighted to see the start of development at Business Park Dalmatia that will improve employment opportunities and provide new services for local residents. This is a major positive endorsement of our strategy and long-term approach in Croatia in which we’ve been present for 15 years," Poseidon Group corporate affairs director, James Gunn, said in a statement.

Poseidon Group did not provide the name of the Croatian food retailer.

It said that the business park located in Dugopolje close to Split has remaining land of almost 245,000 sq m, with the minimum plot for development set at 20,000 sq m.

BPD's location on the Adriatic coast benefits from excellent access to public transportation, being 10 minutes drive away from Croatia's second largest city of Split, and 30 minutes from Split International Airport, Poseidon Group said.

The developer also said it will open in December the Zadar Shopping Capitol centre, bringing to eight the number of retail parks and neighbourhood centres it operates in Croatia.  The company plans to operate 11 Capitol Parks nationwide by the end of 2020.

The Capitol Park platform is part of Poseidon Group’s retail real estate portfolio composed of more than 280,000 sq m of built and managed Capitol Parks and Capitol Centres across Southeast Europe, and 90,000 sq m of built supermarkets alongside more than 1,000 apartments and houses.
