BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), October 9 (SeeNews) – Bosnia’s Serb Republic said that the Polish government is considering lending a combined 20 million euro ($29.4 million) for the upgrade of its Ugljevik and Gacko thermal power plants.
During a working visit to Poland, the Serb Republic’s Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik, and Industry, Energy and Development Minister Slobodan Puhalac have agreed with Polish State Under-secretary at the Ministry of Economy Joanna Strzelec-Lobodzinska to nominate the power upgrade project for allocation of credit lines by the government in Warsaw, the Bosnia’s Serb Republic government said in a statement posted on its website on Thursday.
The amount of that credit arrangement would be 20 million euro, the statement said.
Puhalac and Dodik will continue the talks with representatives of the Polish government on the technical details and further specifics of the said credit arrangement, it added.
The Gacko coal mining and power generation complex is located in the southern part of the Serb Republic, near the region's borders with Croatia and Montenegro. Gacko is one of two coal-fired plants in the Republic. The other plant is part of the Ugljevik coal mining and power generation complex (www.riteugljevik.com) located in northeastern Bosnia.
The Serb Republic is one of the two autonomous parts forming post-war Bosnia. The other is the Muslim-Croat Federation.
