The new plant is expected to produce around 5.9 GWh of clean energy annually, which will be sold on the energy market on a merchant basis, without any governmental support or power purchase agreements.
"The Bocșa power plant expands our IPP portfolio to 39.1 MWp in Romania and increases our global capacity to 131.1 MWp," Georg Hotar, CEO of Photon Energy, said.
Photon Energy has a project pipeline which includes about 220 MWp of utility-scale solar projects in Romania, including 12.4 MWp in an advanced stage of construction.
In January, the company announced it connected to the grid a 3.9 MWp PV power plant in the western county of Timis.
Photon Energy N.V., the holding company for Photon Energy Group, is listed on the stock exchanges in Warsaw, Prague and Frankfurt. The company is headquartered in Amsterdam, with offices across Europe and in Australia.
