In January, just as in December, as many as 1.8% of non-financial enterprises expected to discontinue their operations in a month's time because of the pandemic, the NSI said in a statement on Friday, citing the results of a survey it had conducted among nearly 3,800 companies employing approximately 230,000 people.

The results of the January survey showed that most respondents, 94.6%, expected to continue to operate as usual in February, while 2% planned to temporarily suspend operations.

Data from the poll showed that 13% of the companies put employees on a paid leave in January, down from 18.2% in December. Firms whose employees worked from home amounted to 11.4% of all respondents.

The results of the survey also indicated that 38% of the companies recorded lower operating revenues in January in comparison with the previous month, while 51.4% reported no changes and 10.2% increased their revenue.

As many as 45.5% of the companies active in culture, sports, and entertainment saw their revenues decline in January. A drop in revenue was posted by 43.7% of the companies active in trade, transportation and food services, as well as 41.1% of construction companies.
