The total number of landings and take-offs dropped by 65% on the year to 3,930 in October, while cargo volumes shrank 40% to 668 tonnes, the statistical office said in a statement on Friday.
The airport in the capital Zagreb recorded the largest number of passengers in Croatia in October - 55,000 (down by an annual 83%), followed by the airport in the Adriatic city of Split with 25,000 (down 90%) and Dubrovnik airport with 14,000 (down 95% compared to October 2019).
German nationals led the list of international passengers at the Croatian airports in October, as their number reached 34,000, down by an annual 87%, followed by nationals of France, the Netherlands, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and Poland.
In January-October, Croatia's airports saw their passenger traffic shrinking 81% on the year to some 2 million. The number of aircraft operations was down 59% to almost 49,000, while cargo volumes declined 44% to 6,400 tonnes in the first ten months of 2020.
