Orange's 9-mo Revenue Falls 18% Y/Y in Romania, Up 13% in Moldova

October 29 (SeeNews) - France Telecom's Internet and mobile arm Orange said on Thursday its nine-month revenue fell by 18.1% on the year to 800 million euro ($1.18 billion) in Romania but rose by 13% to 113 million euro in Moldova.

Orange's revenue from Romanian operations continued to be impacted by the difficult economic environment and strong competitive pressures, the company said in a statement. It provided no profit figures for the review period.

In the third quarter alone, Orange's revenues in Romania fell by 22.9% on the year to 269 million euro but those in Moldova increased 11.8% to 38 million euro.

Orange's customers increased to 10.694 million at the end of September in Romania, up 4.8% from a year ago. In Moldova, company’s clients rose to 1.554 million at the end of September, compared to 1.379 million a year earlier.

France Telecom posted 38.1 billion euro in revenue in the nine months through September, up 0.4% on the year.
