January 5 (SeeNews) - Vienna-based specialty chemicals firm Borealis, a unit of Austrian oil and gas giant OMV, is seeking clearance from the Bulgarian competition authority to take over local plastics recycling company Integra Plastics, a notice published by the regulator on Friday showed.

The proposed transaction is expected to result in a minor horizontal overlap in the low-density polyethylene market, but will cause no vertical market overlaps, according to the notice.

Third parties are invited to submit comments on the deal within seven days.

In November, OMV announced that Borealis, in which it controls a 75% stake, has agreed to acquire Integra Plastics for an unspecified sum, with the aim of boosting the subsidiary's advanced mechanical recycling portfolio.

Borealis is active in the sale of polypropylene and composite polypropylene as well as low-density, high-density and composite polyethylene.
