New residential buildings in Bulgaria down 3.6% y/y in Q4

February 7 (SeeNews) - The number of newly constructed residential buildings in Bulgaria fell by 3.6% year-on-year to 1,529 in the last quarter of 2023, the statistical office said on Wednesday.

In contrast, the total usable space of newly completed dwellings grew by an annual 10.3% to 644,400 square metres in October-December, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a quarterly report, citing preliminary data.

The highest number of residential buildings, 267, was completed in the district of Sofia, followed by Plovdiv with 230 and the coastal city of Varna with 174 buildings.

Houses held the largest share - 78.3% - of all new residential buildings completed in the fourth quarter, whereas apartment buildings accounted for 14.1%.
