New car sales in Croatia up 16.7% y/y in May

June 5 (SeeNews) - Sales of new passenger cars in Croatia rose to 8,281 in May from 7,097 in the same month of 2023, market research agency Promocija Plus said.

Volkswagen was the top-selling brand in the country of some 3.89 million people with 1,265 cars sold in May, Promocija Plus said in a statement on Tuesday. Its sales rose on an annual comparison basis, from 815 cars sold in May 2023.

Skoda followed with 1,191 cars, up from 787 in May 2023. Opel ranked third with 580 cars, up from 640 in May last year.

The best-selling models in May were Skoda Octavia with 773 cars, Volkswagen T-Cross with 469 ones and Dacia Duster with 284 cars sold.

New car sales in the first five months of this year totalled 30,569, up from 26,584 in the same period of 2023.

New car sales in the Adriatic country 2023 reached 56,697 last year, up from 44,088 in 2022, according to figures announced earlier by the same agency.
