Net profit of banks in Bosnia's Serb Republic up 36% in 2023

February 26 (SeeNews) - The combined net profit of the banking sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina's Serb Republic rose 36% on the year to 189.1 million marka ($105 million/96.7 million euro) in 2023, the entity's banking agency figures showed on Monday.

The combined revenue of the banks operating in the entity increased by an annual 18% to 650.1 million marka in the year under review, whereas total expenses grew 11% to 441.2 million marka, according to preliminary data published by the Banking Agency of Bosnia's Serb Republic.

Net interest income rose to 409.4 million marka in 2023 from 329.6 million marka a year earlier.

Total loans amounted to 6.06 billion marka at the end of 2023, up 5% from the end of 2022. Deposits totalled 7.7 billion marka, up 2% compared with the end-2022 figure.

The total net assets of the banks operating in the Serb Republic went up to 10.04 billion marka at the end of 2023, from 9.76 billion marka at the end of 2022.

The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other entity is the Federation.
