November 18 (SeeNews) - The combined net profit of the banking sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina's Serb Republic rose 20% on the year to 115 million marka ($61 million/58.8 million euro) in the first nine months of 2022, the entity's banking agency figures showed.
The combined revenue of the eight banks operating in the entity increased by an annual 9% to 401 million marka in the period under review, whereas total expenses grew 5% to 277.1 million marka, according to preliminary data published by the Banking Agency of Bosnia's Serb Republic on Thursday.
Net interest income rose to 241.1 million marka in the January-September period from 227.9 million marka in the like period of last year.
Total loans amounted to 5.74 billion marka at the end of June, up from 5.71 billion marka from the end of 2021. Deposits totalled 7.3 billion marka, down 2% compared with the end-2021 figure.
The total net assets of the banks operating in the Serb Republic declined to 9.48 billion marka at the end of September, from 9.55 billion marka at the end of 2021.
The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other entity is the Federation.
