N. Macedonia's Wabtec widens net loss in Jan-Sept

October 28 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia-based railway brake equipment manufacturer Wabtec MZT [MSE:MZHE], part of U.S. Wabtec Corporation, said it widened its net loss to 90.8 million denars ($1.5 million/1.5 million euro) in the nine months through September, from 59.5 million denars in the first nine months of 2021.

The company's operating expenses rose 18% on the year to 1.4 billion denars as cost of materials and supplies went up 16% to 751.3 million denars in the period under review, Wabtec MZT said in an interim financial statement on Thursday.

Operating revenues came in at 1.3 billion denars in the period under review, up 21% year-on-year.

Domestic sales went up 67% on the year to 5.1 million denars, while sales from abroad rose 21% to 1.3 billion denars.

Wabtec MZT was founded in 1953 as MZT Hepos. The company was acquired by Italy's POLI group in 2003, and in 2008 became a unit of Wabtec.

Wabtec MZT exports its products to over 50 countries worldwide.
