May 7 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's trade deficit increased to a total of 49.7 billion denars ($869 million/807.3 million euro) in the first three months of the year, from 39 billion denars in the same period of 2023, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
Exports decreased 9.3% on the year to 118.9 billion denars in the January-March period, while imports fell 0.9% to 168.6 billion denars, Makstat said in a statement.
North Macedonia's exports mainly consisted of supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets used in motor vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts of seats and other supporter catalysts.
The country predominantly imported petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, metals of the platinum group and alloys and electricity.
North Macedonia's main trading partners in the first three months of the year were Germany, the UK, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria.
