N. Macedonia's trade gap shrinks 26% y/y in 2023

February 8 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's trade deficit decreased to 173.9 billion denars ($3 billion/2.8 billion euro) in 2023, from 235.7 billion denars in 2022, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.

N. Macedonia's trade gap shrinks 26% y/y in 2023

Exports inched up 0.2% on the year to 512.4 billion denars in 2023, while imports fell 8.1% to 686.3 billion denars, Makstat said in a statement.

North Macedonia's exports mainly consisted of supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as an active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets used in motor vehicles, aircraft or ships, other supported catalysts.

The country predominantly imported petroleum and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), metals of the platinum group and motor vehicles.

North Macedonia's main trading partners in 2023 were Germany, the UK, Greece, China and Serbia.
