N. Macedonia's Jan-Apr budget gap grows to 234 mln euro

May 27 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia posted a budget gap of 14.4 billion denars ($253.9 million/233.8 million euro) in the first four months of the year, compared with a 12.5 billion denars deficit in the same period last year, finance ministry data showed on Monday.

N. Macedonia's Jan-Apr budget gap grows to 234 mln euro

Consolidated budget revenues totalled 98.3 billion denars in the January-April period, up compared with 87.3 billion denars in the like period of 2023, as tax revenues rose to 442 million denars from 424 million denars, finance ministry figures showed.

However, total expenditures rose to 112.7 billion denars in the review period from 99.7 billion denars in the like period of 2023.

In April alone, the budget was in surplus of 259 million denars, compared with a 9 million denars deficit in the same month last year.

At the end of 2023, North Macedonia's budget was in deficit of 41.4 billion denars, compared with a 35.5 billion denars gap at the end of 2022.

North Macedonia's government has projected a budget deficit of 33.5 billion denars in 2024, equivalent to 3.4% of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP).
