Montenegro's trade gap widens 11% in Jan-Oct

November 29 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s trade deficit rose by 11% on the year in the first ten months of 2023, reaching 2.63 billion euro ($2.89 billion), the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.

Exports fell by 6.6% on the year to 538.4 million euro in the review period, while imports increased 7.8% to 3.2 billion euro, the statistical office said in a statement.

Montenegro's key export destinations in the January-October period were Serbia absorbing exports worth 145 million euro, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 65.4 million euro and Slovenia with 61.8 million euro.

The majority of imports into the country, totaling 553.6 million euro, originated in Serbia. China followed with 352.8 million euro, and Germany ranked third with 297.6 million euro.

In 2022, Montenegro’s trade gap widened by 37% to 2.84 billion euro.
