On a monthly comparison basis, Montenegro's consumer prices increased by 0.5% in January, after falling by 0.5% in December, the statistical office said in a statement.
In January, annual inflation was primarily driven by a 15.9% increase in clothing and footwear prices and a 12.9% rise in restaurant and hotel prices. Prices of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel prices rose by 6.8% year-on-year, alcoholic beverages and tobacco were up 4.6%.
Prices of healthcare services went up 4.5%. Furniture, household equipment, and household maintenance prices rose by 4.2% and prices of recreation and culture activities rose by 4.4%.
