March 20 (SeeNews) - Montenegro will allocate 30 million euro ($33 million) to support environment protection projects in 2024, tourism and ecology minister Vladimir Martinovic said.
In particular, the tourism and ecology ministry will use fees collected from environment polluters and the sale of CO2 credits in order to make available to citizens, companies and the public sector some 11 million euro in direct non-refundable financial support for environment protection projects, Martinovic said in a statement earlier this week.
In addition, thanks to the European Commission's programme for fighting energy poverty, Montenegrin citizens will receive direct support of 8 million euro for putting into practice energy efficiency-boosting measures. The tourism sector will receive 3.5 million euro for implementing such measures.
