February 21 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s government said on Wednesday that it has proposed to the Education Union to increase teachers' wages by 10% as of July 1 to meet demands of striking educators.
The proposal will be submitted to parliament for adoption by the end of the second quarter of 2024 at the latest, the government said in a statement, following a meeting with representatives of the trade union last night.
Teachers at almost 160 schools across Montenegro went on strike on Monday to press demands for a 10% pay rise as of January 2024, agreed with the government two years ago.
