Montenegro end-Sept mobile phone penetration rate falls to 177%

October 22 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's mobile phone penetration rate dropped to 177.49% at the end of September from 181.06% a month earlier, the country's telecoms regulator said.

The three mobile phone operators in the country of 620,000 people reported a total of 1,100,476 SIM cards in use at the end of September. Pre-paid subscribers totalled 782,611, according to figures posted on the website of Montenegro's Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services.

The country's leading mobile operator, Telenor, part of Norway's biggest telecommunications group of the same name, had 446,853 users and 40.6% market share at the end of September.

The second biggest wireless carrier, T-Mobile, a unit of Magyar Telekom, had 375,337 customers and 34.11% market share.

The country's third largest mobile operator, M:Tel, controlled by Serbian state-owned Telekom Srbija, had 25.29% market share at the end of last month.
