October 8 (SeeNews) - Montenegrin power monopoly Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) on Thursday launched a tender for the purchase of 817,080 megawatthours (MWh) of electricity needed to cover the country’s power consumption next year.
EPCG has earmarked 57.4 million euro ($85 million) for the purchase, the company said in its tender invitation. The total amount of energy is divided into 16 lots.
"The bidder may submit a bid for one or more than one lot or whole amount of electricity. […] Within each of the lots the bidder may submit a bid for delivery of electricity of a 10 MW minimum power," it added.
The deadline for submitting bids expires on November 4 at 1130 local time (0930 GMT), EPCG said, adding that results of the tender will be announced with 30 days.
Montenegro, which has total installed power capacities of 868 MW, suffers constant power shortages and increases the volume of electricity imports every year. Almost two thirds of its electricity output is produced by two big hydro power stations, Perucica and Piva, and around one third is contributed by its sole thermal power plant TE Pljevlja.
