November 17 (SeeNews) - The Montenegrin unit of Austria's Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank narrowed its net loss to 9.831 million euro ($12.425 million) in the first nine months of 2008 from 10.159 million euro a year earlier, data from Montenegro’s central bank showed on Monday.

Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank started operations in Montenegro in 2006.

The Montenegrin lender had assets of some 500.97 million euro at the end of September, ranking it as Montenegro's third largest bank.

Eleven banks were active in Montenegro at the end of September. The biggest was Crnogorska Komercijalna Banka, owned by Hungary's OTP Bank, with total assets of some 1.21 billion euro, while Prva Banka Crne Gore ranked second with total assets of 562.85 million euro.
