Montenegrin govt endorses signing of 50 mln euro loan deal with EIB

PODGORICA (Montenegro), September 13 (SeeNews) – The Montenegrin government said on Thursday it has endorsed the signing of a 50 million euro ($64.5 million) loan deal with the European Investment Bank (EIB), part of a 100 million euro financing scheme targeting small- and medium-sized enterprises.

The rest of the funding should be provided by Montenegro's state-owned Investment and Development Fund though which the financing will be disbursed to the end users, a government statement quoted finance minister Milorad Katnic as saying.

The funds will also be used to finance infrastructure projects with energy and tourism defined as priority sectors.

The eight-year EIB loan has a grace period of two years. The loan funding will be made available in two trenches of 25 million euro each.
