Moldova's Transdniestria Sept consumer prices rise 0.89% m/m

October 22 (SeeNews) - Consumer prices in Moldova's breakaway region of Transdniestria climbed 0.89% on the month in September after rising by 0.06% in August, the region's economy ministry said.

Food and non-food prices increased by 2.06% and 0.18% on the month in September respectively, the ministry said in a statement. Prices of services fell 0.15% on the month.

Cumulative inflation for the first nine months of the year reached 8.65%, the ministry said.

Transdniestria’s 2011 inflation accelerated to 15.98% from 13.24% a year earlier.

Transdniestria, with a population of 700,000, considers itself an independent state. Moldova has offered it broad autonomy but the region is seeking full independence
