The country's exports fell 6.5% year-on-year in 2023, while imports decreased by 5.9%, BNS said in a press release on Tuesday.
The European Union absorbed 65.4% of Moldova's exports in 2023, up by 6.8 percentage points (pp) compared to 2022. The EU also accounted for 48.3% of the country's imports, inching up by 1 pp on the year.
In December alone, Moldova's exports fell by an annual 10.3% to $311.3 million, while imports decreased by 7.3% to $810 million, resulting in a trade deficit of $498.7 million, down 5.3% year-on-year.
