September 2 (SeeNews) - Moldova's unemployment rate fell to 2.4% in the second quarter of 2022 from 3.6% in the prior-year period, the country's statistical bureau said.
In the first quarter of 2022, unemployment rate was 3%.
The number of unemployed in the country of 2.6 million people was 21,600 at the end of June, down from 31,400 at the end of the second quarter last year, the statistical bureau said in a statement.
Moldova's workforce rose to 878,900 million people in the second quarter, up from 842,600 in the same quarter of 2021.
Unemployment among men in Moldova was 2.6% versus 2.2% among women at the end of June. The jobless rate was 3.5% in urban areas and 1.5% in rural areas.
Moldova's unemployment rate fell to 3.2% in 2021 from 3.8% a year earlier.
