Moldova's annual inflation slows to 3.9% in March

April 10 (SeeNews) - Moldova's consumer prices rose by 3.9% year-on-year in March, decelerating from a 4.3% annual increase in February, the statistical office said on Wednesday.

Prices of non-food products were the main inflation driver in March, rising by an annual 6.7%, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a statement.

Prices of food products and services rose by 2.9% and 0.9% on the year in March, respectively.

On a monthly comparison basis, Moldova's consumer prices added 0.5% in March, decelerating from a rise of 0.7% recorded in February. Prices of non-food products rose by 0.8% on the month, accounting for an increase of about 0.3 percentage points in average consumer prices. Food prices were up by 0.5%, while prices of services inched down by 0.1% on the month in March.

On March 21, Moldova's central bank decided to cut its policy rate to 3.75% from 4.25%, aiming to keep inflation close to its 5% medium-term target.
