Moldova's agricultural output value falls 18% in Jan-Sept

October 27 (SeeNews) - Moldova’s agricultural output in terms of value fell by 18% on the year to 28.2 billion lei ($1.46 billion/1.46 billion euro) in comparable prices in the first nine months of 2022, mainly due to a drop in plant production, the country's statistical office said on Thursday, citing preliminary data.

In terms of volume, plant production fell by annual 23.5%, and covered 78% of the total agricultural production in the first nine months of 2022, the statistical office said in a press release.

Livestock production decreased by an annual 5.9% in terms of volume during the January-September period.

During the review period, households registered a slight annual increase in egg production in terms of volume, of 0.2%, while the production of cattle and poultry fell by 5.3% on the year. Milk production by households fell by an annual 12.1% in terms of volume in the first nine months of the year.
