CHISINAU (Moldova), November 6 (SeeNews) – Moldova’s parliament, dominated by a four-party pro-West coalition, elected on Friday Dorin Dragutanu as new central bank governor, the central bank said.
Dragutanu will replace Leonid Talmaci, whose seven-year term of office expired, central bank spokeswoman Rodica Teleuca told SeeNews. Talmaci has been central bank governor since 1991.
Before the appointment, Dragutanu, 35, has been assurance services director at the office of international consultancy PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Serbia since October 2005.
Dragutan was nominated for the post by the government coalition, which controls 53 of the 101 seats in the chamber. The coalition comprises the Democratic Party, the Liberal Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and Our Moldova Alliance.
